Dan Fanthorpe
Dan has been practicing yoga for over 25 years. He has a background in
classical Hatha yoga, including Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and yoga therapy.
His passion is Ashtanga yoga as he finds it gives the yogi everything he
needs physically, mentally and spiritually. As a teacher his
emphasis is to guide students toward a comfortable stillness
within yoga asana. He works on creating a balanced body to
live in and a balanced mind to live with.

Dan has spent years of devoted time studying all aspects and
styles of yoga. he feels lucky to have found ashtanga yoga and
most importantly a teacher that can bring balance and challenge to all aspects
of life. It is very hard in the west to find a balance between work,
family, friends and spiritual development.
The great thing about Ashtanga Yoga is that it works on the
body to improve the mind, the physical practice is just a stepping stone
to living a happy existence without becoming wrapped up in the day to
day drama of life.

Dan spends most of his time in Newcastle, but travels back to India
each year to spend time with his teacher Sharath Jois at AYRI in Mysore India.
Dan also teachers workshops and retreats internationally.
