Class Descriptions
Mysore Style- In a Mysore style or self-practice, students become their own best teacher and the practice becomes a moving meditation. Experienced teachers remain present at each class offering individual guidance and adjustments. In this way the practice becomes tailored to the students individual needs, not the needs of the entire class and is the only way to advance through the different series of Ashtanga Yoga. This class also offers great benefits during pregnancy due to the ability to tailor the practice to the individual.
Prenatal yoga- Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to new discoveries, bringing awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. The practice, conducted in a calm, peaceful environment will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica

BEGINNERS
MYSORE STYLE: This class is a fun way to develop individual practice get lost within the sequence, ask questions and simply let go.
Ashtanga Vinyasa- This class offers a consistent, physically challenging practice containing an abridged version of the Ashtanga Primary Series. This class will help develop any student in a supportive and directed environment.
Vinyasa Flow- Vinyasa Flow is a fully led class perfect for new students and seasoned yogis. This class provides a solid practice foundation with breath, movement and alignment at its core while creating a supple and toned body.
Vinyasa Fusion- Vinyasa Fusion is a dynamic series of sequenced postures that seamlessly "flow" together. This form of yoga is designed to build great internal heat in order to purify our systems. This class will allow you to get the Vinyasa work out if you choose or the stretch if that’s what you need. Vinyasa Fusion is a great class to further develop a students practice.
Vinyasa Free Flow-Vinyasa Free Flow is a dynamic series of sequenced postures that seamlessly "flow" together. This form of yoga is designed to build great internal heat in order to purify our systems. If you’re looking for an eye opening, fun loving, high voltage, high energy yoga this is where you belong.
BEGINNERS COURSES-
The full course (Levels 1, 2 & 3) is designed as an introduction to the Primary Series, improving strength, flexibility and balance. As a beginner, you will be guided through a sequence, developing your stamina, building your knowledge and your confidence so that you may progress to your own practice (Mysore Style).

LEVEL 1: Designed for students with little or no yoga experience. During these classes you will be led through a sequence of Primary Series poses designed to improve your strength, flexibility and balance. These classes run for 75 minutes.
LEVEL 2: Is designed for people who have completed the Level 1 course or who have previous yoga experience. During these classes you will be introduced to some of the more challenging postures of the Primary Series. These classes run for 75 minutes.

Note:
The rest of the sequence is slowly added to your practice in the Mysore style room. As your practice grows, the teacher recommends new postures for the individual student. Thus creating a situation where each student is practicing the sequence to their own experience.
KIDS YOGA- Using storytelling, games, breath work and asanas Kids Yoga at Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle cultivates body awareness and mindfulness in a playful, fun environment.
